City officials to offer free WiFi in 6 parks

LOS ANGELES
The Los Angeles Times reports that city officials plan to introduce on Thursday a free
public WiFi service at six parks, as well as a mobile service request site.
Visitors who are in designated hotspots at Cabrillo Beach, Echo Park Lake, Griffith
Observatory, Pershing Square, Reseda Park and Venice Beach will be able to access
the wireless network, according to the city.

The service, called "Oh, Ranger! Wi-Fi," It is supported by a donation from Toyota,
according to the L.A. Department of Recreation and Parks.
The Times reports that the city will also launch "m.laparks.org," a mobile service
request site as part of the pilot program. Using the Internet browser on their
smartphone, park visitors can log on to the site and submit service requests directly
to the maintenance and construction divisions of the parks department.
