長期以來，在互聯網業務占據主導地位的前提下，谷歌發展了各種看起來與核心業務關系不大、又存在高風險的部門，例如無人駕駛汽車、氣球網絡項目、可以監測血糖的隱形眼鏡等項目。在新Alphabet的架構下，這些業務將紛紛脫離谷歌，成為Alphabet旗下的獨立子公司。

佩奇在博客中寫道：“從根本上說，我們相信這可以讓我們有更大的管理規模，我們因此可以獨立運行更多不緊密相關的事。”

【為何叫“字母表”】
