中國商務部部長高虎城9月13日就加拿大近日完成中加投資保護協定國內批準程序發表談話說,“我在塔吉克斯坦共和國首都杜尚別獲悉加拿大已經完成《中華人民共和國政府和加拿大政府關于促進和相互保護投資的協定》的國內批準程序。中方對此表示歡迎,并積極評價加拿大政府為推動協定生效所作出的努力。中方期待盡快收到加方完成批準程序的外交照會,以使協定盡快生效”。
高虎城表示,近年來中加經貿合作發展順利。2013年雙邊貿易額達到544億美元;截至2013年底,雙向投資總額累計超過510億美元。高虎城認為,協定的實施有利于進一步促進中加兩國雙向投資,深化中加經貿合作,推動兩國戰略伙伴關系邁上新臺階,造福兩國投資者和兩國人民。

Gao said China-Canada trade and economic cooperation has developed smoothly in recent years. Bilateral trade amounted to US$54.4 billion in 2013; By the end of 2013, combined two-way investment topped US$51 billion. Gao believed that FIPA is conducive to further advancing China-Canada two-way investment, upgrading China-Canada trade and economic cooperation, upscaling China-Canada strategic partnership and benefiting investors and peoples of both countries.
Gao pointed out that China would like to work with all parties including Canada to discuss and perfect global investment rules, lead a reasonable flow of development capital and contribute to global economic growth.
