2013年德國牛奶制品生產總值達到了近120億歐元,乳品行業的銷售額超過了250億歐元。德國是全球第5大奶制品生產國。全球最大奶制品出口地是新西蘭,其次是歐盟和美國,澳大利亞也是一個十分重要的奶制品出口國家。

歐盟認為,對進口乳制品需求最大的國家依然會是中國,據悉,全球有1/5的出口奶制品都被運到中國。

縱觀全球,世界三大乳業巨頭是瑞士的雀巢集團、其次是法國的達能和拉克塔利斯公司。德國最大的奶制品公司是DMK乳業公司(Deutsche Milchkontor),營收規模達到了約53億歐元,居世界乳制品公司排名第13位。（中國進出口網）
